Commercial-grade IP camera systems for interior and exterior coverage — NVR infrastructure, PoE cabling, camera mounting, and remote viewing — installed clean and built to run for the life of the facility.
A well-designed surveillance system gives a commercial facility visibility, accountability, and a documented record of what happens on the property — interior and exterior, 24/7, accessible remotely from any device.
TCSS installs commercial IP video surveillance infrastructure as a low-voltage subcontractor for general contractors and facility owners across NC and the Southeast. Our scope includes everything from the PoE cabling and camera mounting hardware to the NVR rack installation and network configuration for remote access — installed cleanly, labeled clearly, and handed off ready to go.
We install the physical infrastructure and integrate it with the VMS platform the building owner has selected. We're platform-agnostic — we work with Milestone, Genetec, Avigilon, Hanwha, Axis, Dahua, Hikvision, and all other major commercial-grade surveillance platforms.
Camera location is everything. Before we pull a single cable, we review the camera schedule and coverage requirements on the drawings — and flag any placements that won't deliver the coverage the security design intends. Blind spots, reflective surfaces, lighting conflicts, and mounting height issues are easier and cheaper to fix on paper than after the ceiling is closed. We've been doing this long enough to catch the problems other subs miss.
IP cameras run on Power over Ethernet — the same cable that carries data also powers the camera. But not all PoE is equal. Modern cameras and PTZ units require higher wattage (PoE+, PoE++) and the cable spec has to match. TCSS specs and installs the correct cable type, verifies switch port wattage assignments, and ensures every camera has adequate power — no brownouts, no rebooting cameras, no unexplained offline devices six months after turnover.
The NVR (Network Video Recorder) is the system's brain — it records footage, manages retention, and provides the interface for viewing and playback. TCSS installs and cables the NVR in a dedicated rack with proper power conditioning, network connectivity, and labeling. We also configure remote viewing so authorized users can access live and recorded footage from any device — before we hand the system off to the building owner.
Interior cameras monitor access points, common areas, corridors, server rooms, loading docks, and high-value asset areas inside the facility.
Exterior cameras handle perimeter security, parking lot coverage, building access points, and site-wide visibility — with weather-rated housing and IR night vision.
Power over Ethernet (PoE) delivers both data and power through a single Cat6 cable — eliminating the need for separate power outlets at every camera location. This simplifies installation and reduces cost significantly on large camera counts.
But PoE wattage requirements vary by camera type, and the wrong spec causes real problems:
Complete surveillance infrastructure on new commercial builds — rough-in, cabling, camera mounting, NVR, and remote access configured before occupancy.
Surveillance systems for commercial tenant spaces — coordinated with construction timeline and integrated with building infrastructure.
High-ceiling interior and perimeter exterior coverage for warehouses, distribution centers, and manufacturing facilities.
Multi-camera exterior systems covering parking structures, access drives, and campus perimeters — with long-run fiber infrastructure where needed.
Adding cameras to an existing system — pulling additional cabling, extending the NVR, and integrating new cameras with the existing VMS.
Upgrading aging analog camera systems to IP — recabling, replacing NVR infrastructure, and migrating to modern VMS platforms.
We review drawings, confirm camera placement for intended coverage, flag conflicts, and confirm PoE and cable spec requirements.
Backboxes, conduit, and junction boxes installed at camera locations — coordinated with framing, ceiling, and other trades.
Cat6A pulled to each camera location, cameras mounted and connected, NVR rack installed and cabled in telecom room.
All cameras verified online, image quality confirmed, remote viewing configured, documentation and as-built package delivered.
Upload your camera schedule and drawings — we'll review coverage requirements, confirm infrastructure needs, and return a complete bid for the low-voltage installation scope.
